Brigitte's Bio
Am I a feminist?
I do consider myself to be a feminist because I am actively and proudly living in a way towards my best conception of a progressive idea of gender. I acknowledge that women are oppressed globally and want to join the fight against it. I also consider my feminist because I try to live in a way that is feminist, progressive, and I am proud to be called a feminist.
My politics ...
As far as politics go I'm fairly middle of the road but I do have some radical leanings. I believe in full access to safe and legal abortion and birth control. I am very into revisionist history, and into attempting to reappropriate the things that can't be let go. I'm very anti-pornography, and I don't think "bitch" will ever be taken back. Public school is a big deal to me, specifically the sorry state of American public schools. Gender; I think there needs to be a gender uprising, I want "man" and "woman" to matter less and less, I want children to be socialized to be themselves first, not a girl or boy first.
The rest of me ...
I'm in college, a literature major and a women's studies minor, and I plan on going to graduate school for women's studies. I live in Florida with my partner and my two pet rats, I love to read, get crafty, play video games, drink scary amounts of coffee, interpose French into my everyday conversation, and buy Sanrio trinkets.
