march for women's lives - your stories

April 26, 2004 10:38 AM posted by april : track it (1)

I know several of you went to the March this weekend. So...

Tell us your stories! Post links to your pictures!

If you weren't able to make it to the March, did your local news cover it? Did you attend a local rally?

This was an historic event - numbers between 650,000 and 1.15 million people. And I know it felt like more people that I'd ever seen. Whatever you did to contribute (even cheering others on), give yourself a pat on the back.

We made history this weekend!

I posted on the messageboard. The event was just amazing, and it is a shame that the media is reporting much lower numbers than how many of us really were in attendance, but that is to be expected. Other than the slightest sunburn, I had a fabulous time, and I think I can say the same for the friends I was down there with.

I'll probably be talking about it for weeks, as I have to write everything down when I remember something because I don't want to forget ANYTHING, so there's a good chance you can wander over to my blog and read all about it. Currently, I've posted a letter I wrote to the San Diego Union-Tribune (which featured a story on the third page) detailing my experiences and asking them to consider doing more coverage on it since it's estimated almost 500 people from San Diego County came. I also have my emotional outpouring, as well as an audblog of me choking up while Ani sings Your Next Bold Move. Pictures will be available as soon as I finish my roll.

All in all-- I'll never forget this. After experiencing the freedom and joy that is 1 million feminists, I'm having a little trouble readjusting to real life, to explaining myself and defending my actions. However, I'm inspired to keep fighting the good fight. ;)

I'm in the process of posting. So much to say, so little time.

Hey, I posted this question, but never a link to my own story, on my photolog. It really was life-changing.

Your photolog rocks, April. And I'm not just saying that because there's a really good picture of me on it.

While y'all are looking at pretty pictures, check out mine here. Story's also up on the main blog page.
